5 fake news Indians believed because of facebook
1. UNESCO selected Indian Anthem as the best anthem in the world
News :This hoax has been around for more than 5 years saying our national anthem ‘jana gana mana’ is the best national anthem according to UNESCO. Not only in facebook , it was viral even on SMS, blogs and whatsapp. People still send such unverified news.
Truth : India today managed to send a mail officially to UNESCO to check the authenticity of this hoax. Sue Williams (Chief, Editorial, Press Relations and Unesco Courier, Bureau of Public Information, Unesco) replied with a NOOOO. she also made sure in her mail that UNESCO never announce such news about any country’s national anthem

2. Kurkure is made of plastic
News: This hoax is pretty viral like the above all over social media. According to this hoax, kurkure is made up of plastic and you can even check it by burning it.
Truth: You can burn kurkure. yes. not only kurkure you can also burn most of the salty and spice edible items not because of the presence of plastic but only because of the presence of carbohydrates. The plastic looking material in kurkure is actually starch. Kurkure officials explained about that it does not contain plastic. These types of brand hoaxes are usually initiated by competitive brands in their industry

3. Satellite view of India on Diwali Night
News: NASA releases a photo of India that shows the view of India on diwali night from space
Truth: The photo releaed by NASA is true. But the lights and visuals were added artificially by NASA to easily distinguish show the cities of india. The picture is true. But it is not taken on the day of diwali. Also Light during diwali is impossible to be seen from the space.

4. Frooti contains HIV:
News: Delhi police warned the public not to use frooti because a HIV affected worker from frooti has added his blood to the frooti while manufacturing or packaging. NDTV has reported this story and it is True
Truth: Both NDTV and Delhi Police denied this statement. HIV is impossible to spread because of food contamination. According to the Centers for Disease control and prevention (CDC) “HIV does not live long outside the body. Even if small amounts of HIV-infected blood or semen was consumed, exposure to the air, heat from cooking, and stomach acid would destroy the virus. Therefore, there is no risk of contracting HIV from eating food.”
5. Swiss back released statement about indian account holders
News: Swiss bank corporation has given the statement about indian account holders in their bank to the Indian Government
Truth: Any official statement to India is addressed as ” Government of Indian” and not Indian Government. They never release this highly confidential news via facebook. They operate in Dollars and Not in Indian Rupee. There are even grammatical errors in that picture
All such news are circulated in social media only to get more number of likes and shares as we Indian have a tendency to share and like stuffs that tempt us by “share it if you are True indian, share it to save your closed ones, share it to stop corruption” etc. Always Verify any information before sharing especially in facebook and whatsapp.
